updated:6/11/9 (th) yes, i've got alot of free time (just the one expansion pack, though) that's what semi-retirement is about. k?

got it yesterday. played it yesterday and played it today. (update: and play it still) i like sims3 today more than i liked it yesterday. the cabbage-patch heads kinda grow on you. (not really) there's many things i miss from sims2, but even so i have less buyers remorse today than yesterday.  there are a number of glitches in the game, but none of them are very serious. i consider it annoying when a sim whines, stomps their feet and shouts that they can't do something and then goes and does it anyway without any change made. this happened three times since yesterday. (update: could be related to the chair icon, in game, when a sim is seated, not being cancelled.) today, a dishwasher broke and flooded the kitchen, but this time when told to mop it up, the sim went through the whinnie stuff and cont. to whine. only after deleting everything around the puddles (in the middle of the kitchen) would the sim mop it up. also the game appears to accept/recognize (moveobjects on) but i couldn't pick up the puddles and delete them, as in sims2. the prima guide says (moveobjects on) works for sims3, but not in my experience. also many other cheats listed in the game guide don't work, (update: some of them listed in the game guide do not work, even with testing cheats enabled) and are not listed when in the game when using (control+shift+c) and then typing help. i'm happy enough that motherlode works. edge scrolling can be enabled in the options (which i rely upon heavily). also i like that you can turn aging off. i happen to work in a nursing home and i don't consider aging and death all that entertaining - a matter of personal taste. something else: you are given the option to "clean out bad food" from the frig. and you can click on the open frig  option to see what's inside (spoiled, unspoiled) before your sim eats it.  (update: now, my sim cooks spaghetti fine, but it's better to keep most foodstuffs in a sims inventory to keep it from spoiling quickly.)  i can have a sim plant a whole tomato in the ground, and use it to grow a tomato plant, but if they don't have the ability to cook spaghetti, you can only use it as fertilizer or bait.     (much later, several real-time days: figured out that you simply click and drag to refrig. from indiv. sims inventory, but not necc. used in cooking) AND, a fish in my sim's inventory was given a name: "dennis" .  my sim (jane fatface) bought a catfish and a trout. either one of them, i was  given the options of renaming and placing them in a teeny-tiny goldfish bowl, which shrinks them to fit the bowl. (update:need to read an individual book for fish recipes) weird. can use the fish to fertilize any plant, when first planted, and then sporadically afterwards.some fish are better as fertilizer than others. this further reinforces my theory that much of the game was developed in korea (if you happened to catch my previous thread from yesterday-noting distinctive korean facial structures). apparently, in korea, fish are used as fertilizer. once in the fishbowl, dennis, whom i renamed: lunacy, was fed and then i had my sim scoop him out, which puts him in that sims inventory (for use as bait or fertilizer), and then deleted the fishbowl as well.  maybe, someone will come up with cc to hang individual fishbowls from trees like they do in china.  another thing: don't bother with the expresso/capiccino maker. it doesn't move the energy bar in a positive direction(and there's a delayed bladder depletion) and there are two significant negatives from using it. 1) your sim gets a "buzz" (technical in-game term), which prevents them from sleeping, when a sim's energy bar degrades even further - the reason to use espresso in sims2(more energy) - and then there's the added "crash" which decreases a sims energy bar even further, and adds a negative moodlet (new sims3 phenom). far as i can tell, since there's no more environment/room value bar for each sim, these moodlets are the functional equivalent. also, as you probably know, there are more community lots, but now there's two types: venues and community lots. it's a bit dicey to differentiate the two, aside from rote memorization. one, the instructions say you can see a sim in a given building and the other, you can not. i guess this was to facilitate this "open community" concept ea is pushing. i can't say i'm a big fan of it. it's irritating to follow your sim to a place and then not see what they're doing. the option to wait at the sim's residence and let them do their thing is still there, but some venues require choices, which are easier to make onsite. argh!  another glitch: in the game, i see bikes whizzing by, but my sim is not allowed to ride the one she bought?  the game let's me change ownership . (update: learned that sending a sim to some lots, venues, but not all will automatically blink a bike to the sim if it's assigned to them, if i don't click on their car, but may get a car, if that's also assigned to them, when that sim walks to a sidewalk adjacent to a street) can select options from a car, but if your sim also has a bike assigned to them, they might get the slower bike instead. ( ea stuff happens)  i guess that's so a bike thief can tell whom he/she is stealing from. sims can jog to other lots, and once on lots there is a wider option as to where they may roam. (update: learned with testing cheats enabled, can shift, click sims to to other lots when you pan out of originating lot and pan in to destination lot (the diy version of teleport) also, need to use testing cheats enabled, click on mailbox and then 'make happy',and a number of stop/starts depending on distance, when jogging - otherwise they pass out, fall asleep, waste major playing time, ala sims1. having fun is hard work sometimes.  slightly amusing is the fact that sims no longer walk to their cars. they walk to the street, click on something, their car blinks in front of them and off they go. also, if you're at a venue, you need to first return home before going elsewhere. one of the big selling points ea hyped repeatedly is just NOT true. needs degrade at the same rate or even quicker than before. gameplay is NOT more focused on socialization, and my sims still need to obcess over bodily functions. needs bars (energy, hunger, etc.) still degrade rapidly. as i progressed in the game, i was able to buy stuff that vastly improved needs decay. but in order to do that, you need to play the game the ea way - that's not so free form. i have little faith in ea. it seems that sims3 is even more focused on negative repercussions to most any sham benefit (illustrated by the espresso thing).  also,(digressing toprevious point) sims3 is more like a console game than ever. guess what ea, (rhetorical aside), if i wanted a console game i would have kept my ps3 and xbox, but i didn't - they're boring.  i watch movies on my huge tv, right from a cable source.  chatting online, um, lemme think.... via computer. so ea's idea of new and improved is to make it more goal-directed .  lovely  , not. (update: most wall lights drop down with the walls, but some cc lights do not) thus far, i just stop the game,  click on whatever and then resume. you can drive to work, and by default your sim will take the carpool back, ignoring it's car in the adjacent work place lot. or, you can tell it to use it's car. in any event, upon returning home, the car is there - at home. more laughable than anything. annoying tips still persist, but with less frequency, since i disabled them in options.  can also disable aging - yea! also sims still can't figure how to get out of a bed in less than 35 sim minutes. still can't tolerate even a loved one in the bathroom with them. still have the idiot walkover lights that invariably sims will be drawn to like a moth to a flame. tiki lights (now renamed, cause it's a new game, i guess) work better and can adjust individual light intensity.  there's a few references to sorcery/magic. upcoming expack? (a diversion at best) just as before, maids don't always do a complete job, and as an added bonus, there is no gardener available for hire. (the horror, the horror). gardening has become a major focus for getting a promotion in some jobs. personally, i like gardening  - when others do it. in build mode: doors and windows don't usually seat right and frequently need readjustment. (half wall, half properly visible door or window) putting one in often disrupts the allignment of another. this could be a drawback of the new grid. looks like the usual cubes are cut in half with dotted lines. grid and a half? so, when you think you're done, you need to recheck everything.  a visual annoyance at most.  really odd: no diving board. i understand this is a base game, so no waterslide is understandable, but no diving board?  that's unamerican! i feel ripped off. the price of the sims3 where i bought it :$52.79.(gamestop) not to mention the release date being delayed (oops, just did).

there are advantages. 1) easier to add to rooms in build mode - by grasping a symbol that looks like a perpendicular arrow with a circle attached to it. as you move the active cursor towards a given wall, it appears. in effect, this stretches the wall out, automatically adding connecting walls and a roof and deletes nothing (windows, pictures, doors move as well). saves a bit of time. 2) it's easier to pay bills. if you wait a moment after the mail is delivered you get two options: get mail and pay bills. clicking on pay bills allows your sims to stand at the mailbox and insert payment into the box rather than walk some where and set it down. 3) more slots on end tables. five by my count. allows for more natural placement of table lights. 3)improved visual distortion when sims in pool. a matter of personal taste perhaps. 4) if you like making fun of others awkward english/syntax/sentence structure (clearly some of the designers/creators use english as a second or third language - my money's still on korea due to the facial structure of the sims), then you may find some of the object descriptions humorous. my personal take: i found the sims and some of the sims2 descriptions very entertaining. sims3: not so much. 5) sims are not  somnambulant after woohoos.  want to enjoy the afterglow? (get a room you perv, because there's no hot tub) (update:actually this isn't so: sims will quickly flip to a relaxed position atop the bed and snuggle when told 6)external, neighborhood visuals are stunning, but this is countered by in house graphics just being so-so and reminiscent of sims1. 6)easier to manage rewards - now renamed wishes - as you can select them rather than getting them automatically. also, they seem to be more event and sim specific. 7) did i mention that you can disable aging, yeah, i think i did. no more rod (not so) humble. 8) can adjust individual light intensity, which is nice outdoors. 9) can change color of lights (if you go for that gimicky stuff) 10) with the right skill, can upgrade multiple objects in the game 10) can adjust fireplace to turn on when your sim enters room (although without any winter, why would i want a fireplace?  i'm such a romantic. plus, you still need a smoke detector) 10) don't need to know everyone in the neighborhood 11) most commands in cue are carried out, in my experience,   thus far. sims getting bumped into by other sims seems to have no effect (ty, oh great programmer in the sky) 11) there are more still. buy the game. you know you want to. change is good. yes, we can! yes, we can! 12)sims can give others a massage - while standing - without a censor blur. (oh my) 13)it's the most i've paid for any individual sim game or expack (advantage: ea)

conclusion: it's not as bad as bon voyage, but it's less for more (dollars not simoleans.)

enjoy the game, 'enjoy it i say!!!'  myuhhaaa, hhhaaa, hhaaa, hhhaaa!!!

I see that everyone is somewhat looking into Sims 3 here.  So has anyone created any simmergirl content for Sims 3?

Welcome shermanaki!  There's no established Simmergirl content for the Sims 3 yet that I know of, I've seen a few work arounds, but I can't find them at the moment.  Hopefully someone that has Sims 3 will point them out to you.  Good luck!

There are two options that I use so far. 1) content I downloaded from Garden of Shadows, in clothing section. (voice isn't feminine) 2) use nraas super computer and edit (in cas) male sims by switching them to female sims. (whatever female voice you choose).

Here's a few of my own Screenshots of the game. Being a Kigo fan the couple is only logical, and approrately named the Possible Family, lol. Although I have the Base Game, World Adventures, and High End Loft Stuff I want to say most of it was made using the Base Game content (Outfit wise anyway).

Sims 3 Kigo: Kim and Shego playing Chess at home.

Sims 3 Kigo- 2: Kim and Shego cuddling on the couch. As you can see Shego got to pick most of the furnishing colors, lol.

Sims 3 Kigo- 3: Kim and Shego enjoy some television.

Sims 3 Kigo- 4: Hmm, seems Shego's gaze has strayed. LOL

The good news is that Selina is now busy as a bee exploring the possibilities of the game, and the prognosis is looking good.  I've been tinkering with it as well, and I think we'll be seeing an influx of Sims 3 transgender goodies here and at Transgender Sims before long...

And the updated answer to 'Can we have simmergirls 3?' Yes we can!  First install the framework for mods to be accepted by Sims 3, found at Mod the Sims.com, search for framework installer once in programs/utilities section. The visit Bloom's Base.com and look for the transgender section. The shower-proof skin may no longer be available as it's creator, LadyFrontbum's site is lately unavailable. (Which may change. And other creations by her are still available.)  But there is a substitute for it at Transgender Sims. com The main plus offered by Bloom is that he worked out a neck fix for the mishmash that occurs when changing body frames. Also there are "sliders" (ways to change the shape of any given sim) available both at Mod the Sims.com (MTS) and also at Bloom's site that are adapted for transims 3. Then, at MTS, there is the CTU program, found under Sims 3, programs. This allows for anyone to change the gender of female dresses, pumps, earrings, hair, etc. to both male and female. And on Bloom's site and also here at Simmergirl, in the forum section(if still there,) Bloom walks people through it's use.  It may be a bit of a hair puller to get installed and running, but once done, it runs seamlessly, IMHO. Several sites have hair, makeup and nails (custom content, CC) for both genders. Simply type Sims 3 into your browser and explore.
Voila! Finis.
