A few months ago... I built this beautiful boutique called "Simford's Secret" in anticipation of using it as a location for photo shots in Toni's story.

Now getting back to finishing up the last chapter... I created a character "Ms. Legionoxo" and had her purchase "Simford's Secret" only to find out that my beautiful clothing racks were "non-functional". Which in effect will not keep anyone in the store at all.

Dreading having to use the drab Maxis clothes rack I went on a search again for more custom content.. only to find Sims 2 H&M Fashion Stuff. Hoping this is going to offer me the solution I need, I ran out during lunch and got the expansion pack...

Anyway... this is from Maxis

The popular European fashion retailer that is taking the US by storm with its trendsetting contemporary fashions is now coming to The Sims 2! Your Sims can choose from cutting-edge men’s and women’s clothing including dresses, jeans, and other outfits, complete with accessories—all inspired by real H&M designs. They can also design their own H&M store environment with retail décor items including mannequins, clothing racks, cash registers, and a fitting room. Then your Sims can showcase their up-to-the minute clothing line with a fashion show, complete with fashion runway. Update your Sims’ wardrobes, design fun and trendy H&M stores, and let them put their fashion foot forward on the fashion runway!

Features:

  • Find Your Summer Look—Dress your Sim in a stylish ensemble showcasing the vibrant colors that are all the rage this season! Then complete your Sim’s look with coordinated accessories.
  • The Go-To Place for Hot New Trends—Design your own H&M retail environment, or use new store-themed items to build an intimate H&M boutique for more sophisticated citizens.
  • Spotlight the Top Fashions—Design a runway and host a couture show featuring all of your favorite H&M styles.

Items:

For Her—Cool and casual Capri pants paired with a breezy tank and strappy sandals take your Sims from poolside to lunch date with ease and style.
For Him—Your Sims are ready to roll in cuffed black denim and a chocolate brown buttondown shirt. Complete the look with trendy canvas sneakers and a stylish tie.
For the Shop—Showcase your Sims’ H&M fashions with focused retail lighting and this red-striped drape as a simple backdrop.

So... has anyone else purchased this? It seems to me like it would be way cool for doing a fashion show like Christine and I talked about off line a couple months ago.... As I explore this expansion pack a little further I'll report back in.

I got it for my birthday a few weeks ago, but I haven't really played with any of the new content.  Heck I haven't installed Celebration  Stuff yet even though Thuvia has had it setting on her desk for about a month.

I got it a short time  ago and installed too. But haven't really had time to play simmies and check it out fully. However, fashion-wise don't expect much. Nothing ground breaking in the clothing lines for any gender or age. A couple of hair styles are cute but you can find much better elsewhere. There are maniquens but wether they are actually usable I don't know. All in all, it appears that this is another lackluster stuffpack. Maxis seems to have either run out of imagination or just doesn't care to put much effort into their creations. Let's hope the 'magic  EP' that's rumoured to be following the "Bon Voyage EP" receives more of their attention. oxoRonnie

I also bought H&M Fashion stuff, but as all the rest I haven't got around playing with it :-P

What I saw was that the fashion-runway was really just a few walls, lights, floors to make it a bit easier to make a runway.

I haven't played with it but my hopes is that the lights are better. That was really the biggest problem back when we played with the idea Steph. I had to use a hidden street-lamp to make it look allright(!)

And speaking about the bon-voyage: I'm really excited about the accessories (hoping - but being realistic)

There was this mod I came across for a runway show.  Basically, you placed a number of way points to chart the models travel, at each you had an option for an animation or pose, such as check cleavage, and were supposed to be able to use up to eight models.  If that is the sort of thing you were looking for.  I can't remember where I found it, and didn't have much luck getting it to do what I wanted it to do, not very user friendly, but if you like I can look for it on my hard drive and try to figure out where I got it.

Found it.  http://www.simwardrobe.com/

Well, when I installed fashion stuff... all my custom stuff in my boutique disapeared or defaulted back to the default item or mesh... I thought to myself... well this sucks! I buy this EP to save myself from the drab clothes racks and everything else that was cool was gone.

I tried looking through modthesims and thesimsresource with not much luck on new stuff... So I had this brlilliant idea... uninstall and reinstall the CEP... didn't help... then I thought... not giving up yet... I re-downloaded the custom boutique items.... and all of sudden everything was back in "buy mode"!! Sometimes, I'm just smarter than I look!

So... I am in the process of giving the boutique a makeover to include the fashion stuff clothes racks... still not perfect but better had I not purchased the pack... The end result.... is the next chapter of Toni's story will be delayed a bit more!

Part of my problem here is that I "write" then I go searching for content to match the story rather than finding content and then writing the story! Everything has got to be perfect or near perfect... it's just the way I am!

Now... on to the point so I don't get thrown in the dungeon by Selina!

So far in this expansion pack I'm not noticing anything spectacular... just more stuff from Maxis. The only reason they got another $20.00 from me was I was not willing to settle for the default clothes racks and could not find the right items elsewhere... granted I only checked MTS and TSR but I don't have the time to search every decent sim site for the right items!

smrw10... that would be very cool if you could find me some info on the runway show... but please don't stress it!

Love,

Steph

Rosemary! Welcome!

....and yes I agree, but I'm not much into the EPS for clothes items... The only thing that impressed we was in GLS, there was this read gown that was gorgeous... Selina was kind enuf to convert it for us... If I want beautiful and cute clothes... then I look to all the wonderful meshers and skinners in the Sims 2 community... they have proven time and time again that they can out do Maxin this area!
