OK Jenny, first we need to know the specs on your computer. Right click on the My Computer icon and select properties. Down at the bottom it will list your processor type, speed and amount of Ram.

Also... very important... do you have a high end graphics card or is it intergrated in the motherboard? Check out this site... http://www.systemrequirementslab.com This has a drop down menu that allows you to check if your system meets the minimum requirements for running a game... Just select the game you want to test from the menu. Also, you need to make sure the custom content is compatible with the EP you have installed. |

Well, that's why we need to know the specs on your computer, so we can help you. I could tell you where to find a video driver if I knew what kind of video card you had, same with sound card, motherboard/computer name, etc. You'll probably need to upgrade the drivers for your Windows DirectX too but I'd wait for that last after the system drivers.

Just a thought. A Windows XP system should not need any drivers updates for older EPs such as Nightlife. If the game EP is installed and playable, that in itself shows you have the drivers, usually Intell, that are necessary. If the custom content won't load or showup, it may be an entirely different issue you are facing. I too have a horrible download rate but it's due to my ISP connections. One thing that may help would be to go to Program Files/Accessories/SystemTools/DiskCleanup, and run that feature so that all your temp files can be cleaned up and your old files compressed. That should speed things along for you. Too, trying going in during non-peak hours on a site, things will be less competative for getting the attention of that sites server. I find that any files approaching 2MB or higher in size is going to be 15 minutes or longer to download. Take note Jenny, what size files are being difficult. Try loading files measured in KB instead of MB, see if they load quicker for you. Good Luck oxo Ronnie

Hi Jenny. Twice I had problems loading Nightlife, in both instances it was something I had downloaded, which even though it said it was compatible with nightlife it stopped the game from loading. Once removed the game ran fine. One of the downloads was a hack the other painting (animated). Try removing your downloads to another temp folder, I know this could be a large folder mine as 4,550 downloads in but they do say patience is a virtue, if the game runs drag the downloads in small batches back into your downloads folder to discover which file is causing the problem. |

Tess just reminded me of something else you could try Jenny - there's a program at SimWardrobe that scans for hacks/objects that conflict with each other and lock things up. You'll find it under Sims2, Programs, Sims 2 Hack Conflict. See if that helps.
