I like Sims3 but find it limited in scope. If not a request here's a few Ideas for Sims2. I've got 10k files in my Sims2 Downloads folder. I've downloaded from under a score of places online. Although I hope I can back-track my downloads, 10k is still a very big number. Three projects come to mind as follows: 1. Create a program to scan your sim before upload. Scan for clothing assigned, makeup used, etc. That way you might give credit to the original developers of those things. If possible display the source of the additional downloads. I suppose if I downloaded a Sim I would want everything associated to any picture. Although I don't upload much I agree to give credit to the creator(s). You could either enclose the necessary files or at least point us to the download site with warnings about pay site or other criteria. 2. & 3. A warehouse of un-used downloads. Scan your Sims in all your neighborhoods. A. Push off all your un-used downloads to a warehouse. Increase game speed. B. Make the un-used downloads available by catalogue, magazine or other choice. Simple as that? I'm sorry it's not but this could be coolest. Ang |

The others will probably be a bigger help to you on the scanning situation, but my only advice is to straighten out your Downloads folder. Any new stuff I enter goes into a named sub-folder so I know what to get rid of if I don't like the results. Most of my folder is still a heinous mess, though...

There is something called the compressoriser at More Awesome Than You, if memory serves. Does tend to speed up game play. Been awhile since I've used it, as it's unnecessary with my current computer, so you may have to hunt around a bit on that site.

Could also try MajorGeeks for free and shareware that does provide the folder scanning function you described (prior to download and install. Or alternately, after download/installation.) One suggestion from Mod the Sims is to use a desktop folder for the initial download then section off each new thing/similarly grouped things into appropriately labelled folders in Sims 2/downloads.( ie by designer, creator, or site or type) Once it's set up, then it becomes more automatic/user friendly. Also Mod the Sims has several programs that I believe could provide some assistance. |

Programs available at Mod the Sims do this as well.
It's at ModtheSims.com - Downloads - Sims2 - Programs And Utilities: "Delphy's Download Organiser" and also "Sims 2 Robofile Maid 3000"
